Guitarist James Gram possesses a rich and varied musical background, lending a uniquely passionate approach to his performances and teaching. Through years of disciplined study, including lessons and masterclasses with Jason Vieaux, Eliot Fisk, Andrew York and other virtuosi, James has refined his musical voice. Travels and performances in Spain, Cuba and Mexico have deepened James’s connection to the guitar’s Iberian roots, while his years as the guitarist and co-composer of fusion group Gnomedad—including shows and tours with Moon Hooch, Kung Fu and other nationally recognized acts—infused his playing with additional spontaneity and verve.
A full-time schoolteacher in Rutland County, Vermont, James is also a competent, kind, and caring educator with a passion for mentoring young people. James is pleased to offer lessons in guitar (all styles and levels), bass, music theory and beginner piano to Rutland-area students of all ages, as well as virtual classes to musicians around the world, in English or Spanish. As a performer, James is available to play recitals, weddings, and other events in Vermont and beyond.
